Wheel And Tire Maintenance For Your SUV

Your SUV's wheels and tires are one the most essential parts of your vehicle. Because SUVs, such as the Land Rover Range Rover, are 4WD, it can go through any terrain that the planet could offer. And when it does, the tires and wheels of your SUV do not just obviously help you to reach your destination because it is the major equipment that makes your vehicle move. However, the functions of the wheels and tires do not just end there. These parts also emphasize the overall appearance of your vehicle. Moreover, the wheels can actually improve your cars performance just by effective cleaning. Like any other car parts like Land Rover Range Rover parts, SUV wheels can eventually be corrosive and tires could wear out because of certain factors.

Getting your SUV perfectly cleaned on a local car wash is a great idea. However, the only drawback of it is the cost that you would be spending in a car wash. Why go to a car wash if you could clean your wheels by yourself, right? So here are some few guides in effective cleaning and maintenance of your vehicle's wheels and tires.

Before we proceed to the cleaning session, first you should know the factors that made your wheels and tires unpleasant. Whenever you use your SUV for a long travel or even in a short trip, dust particles attack the surface of your wheels. Other unwanted dirt on your wheels and tires include road tars, mud, and different soil crumbs. Acid rain and winter salt are effective destroyers that can make your wheels brittle.

Cleaning your wheels and tires is actually the first step in car washing. You should first select a certain cleaner for your wheels and tires. There are a lot of cleaning agents out in the market today but you should choose the safest and most effective cleaning agent for your wheels and tires. Some cleaning agent contains a high level of acidity and can easily damage your wheels. Acid-free cleaners are effective cleaning agents that are commonly used by car wash shops. The most common cleaner is the household detergent because you can find it anywhere in your kitchen, or toilette, of course. Not only that, detergent is also effective and is the safest cleaner because it does not contain any harmful ingredients that can affect your car. Wheels and tires of SUVs are much larger and broader than other vehicles so the cleaning process most likely will take longer compared to sedans.

Now let us start with the cleaning process. First, you should check your tires for road dirt and mud. If you found one, then scrape it with any hard object you can find in your place, but be careful not to scratch your tires so hard. Dilute your chosen cleaner in a bucket of water and then start brushing your tires. The grooves of your tires are the most susceptible to mud and road tars. Brush it effectively. After cleaning your tires, proceed to the wheels. Rinse the brush that you had used in your tires and start brushing your wheels in up and down motion. Pretty easy, right? You should actually clean your wheels and tires once a month for maintenance.

Wheel Power Gets Better

Cars do not work too well without quality wheels. Wheels secure the performance of the car and the safety of the occupants. This is the reason why a car purchaser should know the elements that make wheels outstanding.

Wheels come in a wide-variety of choices. Magnesium alloy, chrome, steel, and aluminum are some of the choices. Nonetheless, the most famous among them is Magnesium alloy wheels or "mag wheels." These wheels are commonly used on racing cars for better performance. This is because magnesium alloy wheels are lighter than steel or aluminum wheels.

Magnesium alloy wheels are produced by hot forging from magnesium alloys ZK60 and MA-14. The typical weight of a magnesium alloy wheel is approximately 8 to 12 kilograms, depending on the car model. Drawbacks of this type of wheel include the high price and the difficulty of recycling. Hence, it is not practical most street cars.

Steel wheels, on the other hand, are the most convenient tire package especially during winter. They are usually available in black and silver finish. Styling is made easier by using updated wheel covers. Compared to other alloys, steel wheels are more affordable. Steel is preferred by automakers because it is easy to manufacture and it reduces material costs.

Wheels also vary in size. People who are serious about their cars are aware that the size of the wheel is crucial to the performance of the vehicle. The primary effect of altering the wheel diameter is the need to change the gears to adjust the ratio of engine speed to wheel rotation speed. This is because the bigger the wheels are, the slower the car become. Nonetheless, the acceleration and top speed of a car do not solely depend on the wheel diameter if the gear ratio is optimized for that particular diameter. Larger wheels will not be affected by small road bumps.

Nowadays, the offer of a 26 inch wheel and tire package is no longer amazing. These wheels can be used by Cadillac Escallade, Lincoln Navigator and Hummer. They can also serve as custom Ford truck wheels for F150 and other large American trucks.

When it comes to quality, durability and design, auto aficionados prefer Ford truck wheels, GMC truck wheels, and Toyota wheels. These wheels are especially manufactured to match their makes and models.

Furthermore, quality wheels must have routine maintenance to keep them in perfect working condition. In addition, maintenance give auto wheels longer wear. Owners can also opt for customization to personalize the car.

Wheels and Rims

Wheels and rims are the significant parts of any vehicle. Wheels are circular rings on which automobile tires are fitted. The wheel is a part around which there is a tire and the rim is outer lip of the wheel. The rim is the periphery of the wheel and the tire is fitted upon the wheel. The rim is actually the ring of wheel and the center of wheel is connected to the rim. The rim and center together make up the entire wheel.

The wheels and rims are available in various sizes, colors and styles. The most common types of wheels available today are wire-spoke wheels, pressed steel wheels and light-alloy casting wheels. The pressed steel wheels are light, stiff, strong and resistant to damage. Main advantage of pressed steel wheels is that they need a very negligible maintenance.

The earliest automobile wheels had metal hoop on which a solid rubber tire was fitted. Today, the wheels are available in a great variety of colors and finishes. The sizes of wheels range from 13” to18”. The finished of wheels vary from fully - machined, silver, hyper - titanium, hyper – silver to hard – chrome. The most common type of wheels is steel wheel. This type of wheel contains many sheets of steel, stamped into shape. These strong but heavy wheels can be found on all types of vehicles ranging from sports car to big pickup trucks. Wheels are fitted over the hub using a combination of studs or lug bolts and lug nuts. The studs are fitted to the hub that is connected to the hub carrier. The wheel consists of holes to match these studs. It is placed over the studs. Then, the lug nuts are tightened to appropriate tension.

Different types of rims are chrome rims, spinning rims, truck rims and custom rims. The rims differ in size, design, weight, price and mounting options. If the rims are light-weight, the overall performance of the vehicle on road is found to be improved. Many car owners prefer to use custom designed rims. Such types of rims promote the look of vehicle. Earlier car models consist of steel rims which were heavy. New rims are more aerodynamic and sleek. Alloy wheels are a great option for city travel and are quite popular in the mainstream market. They are light weight, heat resistant and give amazing mileage. Modern rims are sleeker and aerodynamic. Alloy wheels which can improve mileage are most commonly found in the mainstream market.

Chrome wheel rims are famous because of their shiny exterior. Various styles of alloy rims have been introduced in the last decade. Custom alloy rims come as magnesium rims which are heat tempered and x-rayed to ensure durability and good appearance. The size of the rim may vary with the size of vehicle. Smaller vehicles may have the rims of 13 inches in diameter. Larger vehicles possess the rims having a diameter up to 27 inches and beyond. Both wheels and rims are integral parts of all automobiles. They play a significant role in the appearance and performance of a vehicle.

All types of wheels and rims can be purchased online. There are numerous web sites available that give you a catalog of types, brands and costs of wheels and rims. They are of good quality and free from any kind of damage. You can select wheels and rims as per your requirements and get them at affordable prices.

Motorcycle Helmet Features Are Awesome

When you're looking for a motorcycle helmet, there are many different options and features for you to choose from. Some of the most important are related to convenience and to comfort. Others significantly increase the safety factors for wearing a helmet. It is important to juggle both when making a helmet purchase decision, options for style, function and for safety.

There are many cool add-ons that will make your helmet be customized for you. A great motorcycle helmet feature is a quick change shield mechanism, so you can replace a cracked or dirty shield and keep riding. This is a newer feature, it has been around for awhile but years ago it was necessary to try to wipe the shield clean to continue riding. It was either that, or stop and replace the whole shield, which takes time and isn't really feasible during a race.

If you often have an extra rider on your bike, you can buy a storage bag to hold the extra helmet while you're riding solo. This will make sure you always have one handy, and will protect the helmet from damage. Not only that but if you know you will not be having a passenger, you can replace the helmet with school books, lunch, a change of clothes or whatever. It is nice to have the ability to bring along some extra gear, just in case!

There are other motorcycle helmet features which seem small, but can help to make your ride more comfortable. A strap guard will keep your chin strap from flapping against you in the wind, which can be annoying and painful.

If you live somewhere humid or hot, a helmet that has removable padding is a big plus. If your padding starts to get stale, you can remove it and wash it, which will leave it fresh smelling and comfortable again. Who wants to stick their head in their helmet and smell something bad?

Another motorcycle helmet feature that many riders enjoy is a scratch resistant shell. This will keep your helmet looking new and shiny long after you first buy it, and keep you looking sharp as you ride. This doesn't mean the helmet can't get a scratch on it, quite the contrary. It can still be scratched however it will be much more difficult due to the new scratch resistant finished helmet manufacturers are using.

Vents are a good safety feature, as they can prevent your shield from fogging. Some riders choose not to go with this feature however because it can lead to a louder ride, and the vents do stick out a little. Vents can also make a huge difference in hot weather. Being able to adjust the air flow around your head while riding paramount for a comfortable ride. It will cut down on sweating and help increase the enjoyment factor of your ride.

If you're ready to buy a new motorcycle helmet, motorcycle helmet features are the best way to make sure that you have a comfortable ride. A comfortable helmet is a helmet you'll keep wearing.

3 Advantages Of Hybrid Cars Over Conventional Cars

Due to the rising cost of fuel and the environmental damage it causes to our planet, many car owners or buyers are looking for an alternative way to save money. Let's face it, fuel supply is finite and the prices of gas is only going to rise higher and higher. That is where a hybrid car has its advantages

Hybrid cars have been gaining in popularity in recent years. With lower cost of production and new hybrid car technology being developed, owning a hybrid car is becoming affordable to everyone.

Hybrid Cars Saves Gas

The obvious advantage of using hybrid cars is that it saves gas. Combining the cleaner energy of an electric motor with the long range capacity of a gasoline engine allows a hybrid car to save as much as 30 miles a gallon. One feature of hybrid cars is that the gasoline engine is shut off automatically when the car stops. This also helps in saving fuel. That is also the reason why hybrid cars are so quiet why it is stationary. The gasoline engine is automatically turned on when you step on the accelerator pedal.

Hybrid Cars Are Environment Friendly

Hybrid cars emit lower toxic emissions compared to conventional gasoline-powered cars due to less gasoline being burned. It is environmentally friendly, causes less pollution and releases less carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. If you do not know, carbon dioxide is one of the primary reasons for rising global warming. For example, the Toyota Prius can reduce tailpipe emissions by up to ninety percent and the greenhouse gas emissions by as much as fifty percent.

Tax Incentives For Hybrid Cars

Due to world political pressures around the world to reduce greenhouse emissions, President Bush signed an agreement in 2005 to provide huge tax relief to hybrid car buyers. The tax incentive varies by model and are based on two factors

1. How fuel efficient the hybrid car is compared to a conventional car in 2002 with the same weight class.

2. How much gasoline the hybrid car can save in its lifetime compared with an equivalent conventional car

For example, a Honda Accord hybrid car have reduced tax credits of $600 while a Toyota Prius has a tax credit of $3150. Do note that the tax credits do expire after 2010 for most hybrid cars.

Hybrid car manufacturers are continually researching for more ways to reduce fuel consumption and better fuel efficiency. Also as more hybrid cars are being adopted, the cost of hybrid cars will reduce making it more affordable for everyone.

3 Tips That Will Keep Your Auto Battery Charger Charging

With more people owning cars, motorcycles and RV's there are more reasons to buy an auto battery charger. People are finding it more economical to do it yourself and buying chargers to keep their batteries going. This makes sense both economically and ecologically as these can extend the life of a battery. But what about extending the life of your charger?
Even though buying a charger for your favorite vehicle is relatively inexpensive here are three pointers to prolong the life of your battery charger. These tips mostly apply to portable and bench tip models but the first and third tip apply to the self contained chargers, such as tenders, as well.

Vacuum the outside
Blankets keep you warm. A blanket of dust does so too when covering electronic devices. Heat is a leading killer of electronic components. All devices are designed to operate at their peak within a certain temperature range. Having a layer of dirt and dust can cause excessive heat therefore quite possibly shortening the life of your device.

Blow out the vents
Just as dust on the outside can create an insulating layer so it can on the inside. I can hear the people who work on semiconductor equipment (i.e. computers and other electronic devices) saying you can damage it by the static electricity generated from moving air particles. Although it is a very slight risk and might happen, blowing it out gently once or twice a year with dry clean air is well worth the risk to keep it safe from heat damage.

Keep objects away
Still playing on the blanket theme just as dust can be like a blanket so can objects that closely surround it. Keep clutter away at least three to six inches or more. This ensures that the unit can cool normally under conditions that it was designed for.
Buying an auto battery charger makes great sense especially if you own more than one vehicle. Keeping it clean and running optimally is even smarter since this will prolong the life of your device providing many years of charging.

4 Tips To Ensure A Safe Car Shipping Transaction

With the world becoming more and more globalized, there has been a increase in business for car shipping companies to ship all types of vehicles ranging from motorbikes to lorries, trucks etc. Online car sales and car auctions have also contributed to an increase in demand for car shipping services.
As a result, today there is a wide range of car shipping companies to choose from. But how do you go about picking a car shipping service that is suitable for your car? Here are a few tips to bear in mind.

1. Enclosed Or Not Enclosed
You will need to decide whether your car needs to be enclosed in a container or not during shipping. Generally enclosed containers are more expensive but the advantage is your car will not need to suffer from wind, rain, debris etc during transportation.
I would recommend to use an the enclosed method of transportation if your car is a brand new one or is expensive. An example would be a vintage car or an expensive sports automobile.

2. Shipping Routes
You may need to check with the car shipping company whether they can deliver to your house. Some shipping companies only deliver to major cities and certain pickup locations after which you are expected to go there to collect the car.
Other car shipping companies will charge an additional fee to ship it to your house. So it is important you check with the company before hand the shipping arrangement.

3. Car Inspection
Most car shipping companies will have a car inspection checklist before and after the car is shipped. You want to go through that checklist and make sure your condition of the car is checked correctly before shipping.
You can take your time to inspect the car after it has been shipped to check for any damages to your car.

4. Car Shipping Insurance
You may want to check with the car shipping companies on the shipping insurance coverage on your car and the cost involved. Most car shipping companies include insurance in the total shipping cost but some don't and will require an additional charge. So make sure you know the insurance coverage and the cost if needed.

4 Advantages of Converting Your Car to Run on a Mix of Hydrogen & Fuel

Did you know that it is possible to convert any car so that it runs partially on water? This is also known as hydrogen hybrid. You can get kits that will help you convert your car so that it uses water but before you get anything you want to take the time to learn all you can about it. There are some advantages to using a hydrogen car conversion that you need to know about to start your research.
Here are 4 different advantages that are important to know if you are going to be converting to a hydrogen hybrid car, to make your car run on water.

1. When you convert your car to run on water you will be improving your car's gas mileage by anywhere from 15% to 100%. This encompasses city and highway conditions for driving. Just imagine the kind of money you can save on gas over a one year period. For example, let's say that you save only 35% after you convert your car, you will still save about $900 every year. This could be a huge saving, especially if you have more than one vehicle for your family.

2. When converting to hydrogen your car will not only run on water, you will be able to reduce your car's emissions and exhaust. (also known as reducing your carbon foot print) These are two major problems when it comes to environmental problems happening in the world today. One major problem is global warming and when you convert your car to hydrogen, you will be able to reduce the impact your vehicle has on the environment.

3. Believe it or not but you can also increase your car's power and overall performance. Many people don't realize that when they use gas in their vehicles that the gas can wear down the inside of your car's engine. When you use a hydrogen it burns the carbon off the heads and consequently your engine will not have as much wear and tear.

4. Have you ever wanted a quiet engine on your vehicle? When using a hydrogen car conversion you will be able to help your vehicle run quieter and smoother. When you convert to hydrogen your vehicle's engine noise will not be nearly as loud as it was when it runs on gas alone.

4 Benefits of Cars Running on Water

Maintaining a car can be expensive. One of the largest expenses motorists have to content with is their gas bills. This expense has grown considerably as the price of oil increases to all-time highs. More car owners are exploring ways to save money on gas. One of the most popular methods of saving gas is by installing a hydrogen generator in your car. This method is so popular, that there are many cars running on water in the US.
Given the pervasive influence of hydrogen generators in the automotive community, let's examine 4 benefits of installing a hydrogen generator in your vehicle.

Benefit No. 1 Cheap Installation
Hydrogen generators can be affordable, especially if you build one and install it yourself. There are several step-by-step guides available on the internet that will show you how to build and install a hydrogen generator in your vehicle. These guides are cheap, with some of the most expensive guides costing under $100. The raw materials required for the hydrogen generator cost about $150.
Alternatively, you could hire a professional to install the hydrogen generator for you. There are several companies that offer this service, but the cost of professional installation can run into the thousands.

Benefit No. 2 Works on Existing Vehicles
Hydrogen generators can be installed on most vehicles. There's no need to purchase a new 'hydrogen generator compatible' vehicle in order to perform the conversion. Hydrogen generators have a high compatibility rate with most modern, petrol-operated cars.
Installing a hydrogen generator will reduce your dependency on gas without having to buy an entirely new hybrid car.

Benefit No. 3 Increased Mileage
One of the most compelling benefits of a hydrogen generator is its ability to increase your vehicle's mileage. A hydrogen generator turns water into a gaseous state and pumps it into your engine during petrol combustion. This reduces the amount of petrol used while increasing the mileage your vehicle receives with the petrol used.
There are a large number of factors that come into play when determining the amount of petrol you can save with a hydrogen generator. However, some consumers have claimed that their vehicle mileage has increased by up to 50% after installing a hydrogen generator.

Benefit No. 4 Environmentally Friendly
Hydrogen generators, in their entirety, are eco-friendly. Producing hydrogen generators is a simple affair that requires relatively common materials and resources. This is in stark contrast to hydrogen fuel cells that are used in hydrogen cars. Hydrogen fuel cells currently use rare materials, such as platinum, as a catalyst.
Hydrogen generators also use water to increase the efficiency of petrol combustion. Water 'burns' cleanly, and by increasing combustion efficiency, hydrogen generators reduce the amount of petrol used, thus conserving this expensive resource.
In the US, there are many cars running on water. With the price of oil rising to astronomical levels, there has never been a better time to cut down on your gas bills. The next time you decide to purchase a car powered by hydrogen fuel cells or electricity, stop to consider the amazing benefits a hydrogen generator can give you.

4 Reasons To Build A Home Made Hydrogen Fuel Cell For My Car

If you are like me, you might be a little concerned about high gas prices and big companies trying to rip you off. I'm really thinking to convert my car to run on water using HHO fuel (aka brown's gas) to save money on gas. Many people have made testimonials that claim 50-70% improvement on gas millage once they have converted their car using this technology. This in itself is a major reason why I want to build a hydrogen fuel cell and fit it under the hood of my car.

Using a HHO fuel cell to power my car would have a second effect adding to using less gas. HHO fuel have the ability to clean up the engine itself during the first few hundred miles and keep it clean. Therefore it increases engine power and gas millage, reducing fuel consumption a little bit more.

A car that uses less gasoline in a clean engine means what? Cleaner exhaust emissions. The fact is that burning hydrogen result in only one by-product: water. No pollution at all. Reducing the gasoline consumption results in less exhaust fumes, cleaner engine result in cleaner exhaust fumes. Running my car with water using HHO fuel cell technology would have a great impact on my environment.

We are all searching new and effective solutions to create a better place to live by reducing pollution at the source. I think that doing what I can do over the things I control (my stuff: car, home, garden...) is the best way to move into the future.

I just need to learn a little bit more about the different plans, diagrams and kits that are available to build a homemade fuel cell for my car. I really want to convert my car to run on water. There are dozens of products available. Some of them work, others need fine tuning. I have narrowed down my researches to the best three products.

4x4’s and How They Work

The 4x4 specialist team at Sureterm Direct unravels the mysteries of driving a 4x4 and how and why it all works.

So how does the four wheel drive system work?
There are almost as many different types of four-wheel-drive systems as there are four-wheel-drive vehicles. It seems that every 4x4 manufacturer has several different schemes for providing power to all of the wheels. The language used by the different carmakers can sometimes be a little confusing so here’s some explanation of terminology you will often hear used:

• Four-wheel drive - Usually, when car makers say that a car has four-wheel drive, they are referring to a part-time system. These systems are meant only for use in low-traction conditions, such as off-road or on snow or ice.

• All-wheel drive - These systems are sometimes called full-time four-wheel drive. All-wheel-drive systems are designed to function on all types of surfaces, both on- and off-road, and most of them cannot be switched off.

Part-time and full-time four-wheel-drive systems can be evaluated using the same criteria. The best system will send exactly the right amount of torque to each wheel, which is the maximum torque that won't cause that tire to slip.
To understand the different four-wheel-drive systems found on cars, you need to know a little about torque, traction and wheel slip.

So what are torque, traction and wheel slip?
Torque is the twisting force that the engine produces. The torque from the engine is what moves your 4x4.  The various gears in the transmission and differential multiply the torque and split it up between the wheels. More torque can be sent to the wheels in first gear than in fifth gear because first gear has a larger gear-ratio by which to multiply the torque.

The interesting thing about torque is that in low-traction situations, the maximum amount of torque that can be created is determined by the amount of traction, not by the engine.

So what affects traction?
• The weight on the tire - The more weight on a tire, the more traction it has. Weight can shift as a car drives. For instance, when a car makes a turn, weight shifts to the outside wheels. When it accelerates, weight shifts to the rear wheels.

• The coefficient of friction - This factor relates the amount of friction force between two surfaces to the force holding the two surfaces together.  It relates to the amount of traction between the tires and the road to the weight resting on each tire. The coefficient of friction is mostly a function of the kind of tires on the vehicle and the type of surface the vehicle is driving on. For example, huge, knobby, off-road tires wouldn't have as high a coefficient of friction on a dry track, but in the mud, their coefficient of friction is extremely high.

• Wheel slip - There are two kinds of contact that tires can make with the road: static and dynamic.

• Static contact - The tire and the road (or ground) are not slipping relative to each other. The coefficient of friction for static contact is higher than for dynamic contact, so static contact provides better traction.

• Dynamic contact - The tire is slipping relative to the road. The coefficient of friction for dynamic contact is lower, so you have less traction.

Quite simply, wheel slip occurs when the force applied to a tire exceeds the traction available to that tire. Force is applied to the tire in two ways:

• Longitudinally - Longitudinal force comes from the torque applied to the tire by the engine or by the brakes. It tends to either accelerate or decelerate the car.

• Laterally - Lateral force is created when the car drives around a curve. It takes force to make a car change direction - ultimately, the tires and the ground provide lateral force.

The benefit of four-wheel drive is easy to understand: If you are driving four wheels instead of two, you've got the potential to double the amount of longitudinal force (the force that makes you go) that the tires apply to the ground.

This can help in a variety of situations. For instance:

• In snow - It takes a lot of force to push a car through the snow. The amount of force available is limited by the available traction. Most two-wheel-drive cars can't move if there is more than a few inches of snow on the road, the recent weather conditions have been proof of that! A four-wheel-drive car can utilize the traction of all four tires.

• Off road - In off-road conditions, it is fairly common for at least one set of tires to be in a low-traction situation, such as when crossing a stream or mud puddle. With four-wheel drive, the other set of tires still has traction, so they can pull you out.

• Climbing slippery hills - This task requires a lot of traction. A four-wheel-drive car can utilize the traction of all four tires to pull the car up the hill.

5 Reasons To Own A Portable Car Battery Charger

It's easy to understand why a car battery charger is a great tool to have around. Cars, lawn equipment and motorized toys have batteries and may need occasional charging. Outdoor toys and lawn equipment especially need it due to infrequent use. Since some equipment does not have an on board generator it is up to the user to recharge to continue use.

Not everyone knows how easy it is to have their own portable car battery charger. They are actually rather simple to operate and have. You can get one that is basically an on or off operation or a complicated as monitoring and self adjusting charging voltages.

Here are five reasons why it is easy for anyone with a car, truck, or outdoor vehicle to own one:

1. You can take it anywhere
The great thing about these devices is that you really don't need a set space for them. Years ago you set the charger on a shelf or parked its cart in a corner and that's pretty much where it set. The newer units can pretty much be used anywhere you can find an electrical outlet.

2. They can be small and compact
You can find them light and small enough to fit in toolboxes and glove boxes.

Thanks to newer technologies electrical components can be smaller and lighter. Some chargers are as light as a couple of pounds. As long as you have a power source available, usually an ac outlet, you can be charging in minutes.

3. Cheap enough to own
With the same technologies that made these marvels lighter and smaller also means they are cheaper to produce. This has meant manufacturers producing more therefore lower prices. Add in to the mix resources such as Ebay and Amazon and bargains can be found. Chargers can be had for less than $100 and many times less than $50.

4. Extend the life of your battery and save
Newer units such as tenders can keep the battery topped off without boiling out the electrolyte and therefore potentially destroying your battery. One person was able to keep the same battery for his hobby car for over ten years thanks to a specialized charger. How much could this save you over the course of several years?

5. Keep your recreational toys on the ready
Ever had a spur of the moment idea to take the motorcycles out on the first nice spring day? If your battery did nothing but sit during the winter you might not get out as quick as you'd like. Having a charger can keep the battery up and ready to go when you are.

Although you would need a charger more if you own motorcycles, RVs, or other outdoor toys that are used infrequently, even car owners should own one as a precaution. With small size, light weight and low cost there isn't a reason why you shouldn't have one in your garage, closet, toolbox, or glove box. Add the fact that you could even possibly extend the life of your battery adds that much more value to your small investment.

5 Tips On What To Look For In A Hydrogen Generator

5  Hints on the Water to Gas Generator
Many people have heard about the device that will convert Water to Gas Program, and you're may be asking "Is this for real, and What should I Pay Attention to?" Because Gas Prices are are going up again,  interest in the Kits have shot up, along with the interest that people are having on "Hybrid cars" that are being offered now days are making people think out of the box. There's a great deal of interest in saving money at the pump, but the costs of these Hybrids are making many people looking at the conversion kits. I've noticed that the popularity of these kits jump when the gas prices jump.  People report that this has their interest, and they would convert their cars if they could get more information, and were able to do the research. The issue is that many companies have come out of the wood work because they can see the profits in offering this to the general public. As you peruse the different sites, there are some tips to keep in mind. The problem is NOT that the system works or not, you can actually build a small one to satisfy yourself that the technology is there, but who offers you the best bank for your buck.

Here are 5 tips You Should Consider When You Look at An HHO System:

1) Remember the Hippocratic Oath (in other words be like a doctor to your car) "First do no harm."  There are hydrogen car kits out there which have the potential to impair your vehicle. I'd stay away from any that would have the chance that damage can occur would be if you have to modify your vehicle's engine car's engine or injection system.

2) Remember that hydrogen is dangerous.   Hydrogen is a very flammable gas.  You don't want to store Hydrogen by the engine. You want a system that's not going to store this in your vehicle anywhere!  The Perfect System would only generate hydrogen when needed, thereby not having a dangerous amount of gas.

3) System needs to be Eficicent. Over the years,  most hydrogen car kits have improved their system as the technology has improved. The difference is that some companies that offer the program has NO back end support. You want a company that would stay in touch with you as upgrades come about, and also has experts standing by as you install your system.

4) Don't buy into the hype. Look, a good system will increase your gas mileage, but I'd look to be conservative. Realistically, I'd go for no more than a 40% savings. If it's more, and from what I've seen it can be, but I wouldn't base the purchase of a system on the gas mileage they claim. They want to sell their product, and there's nothing wrong with that, but remember salesmen are just that… salesmen. They can try to spin the facts, but they can't hype the figures. The internet has been a godsend for research, and what I liked best was finding a way to actually see this system in action. When you click to the site below, you'll find a number of videos that are dead on, and most of these guys do it for the pleasure of being in control of their fuel costs.

5) Look at the cost of the components and the cost of the hydrogen car kit guide. This is actually the last item you should pay attention to, but if you have 2 similar offers, it makes sense to go for the cheaper one. The plans can make things look really complicated, but it will make more sense as you learn the physics and rational behind it. I've made it easy by putting a couple of sites where you can investigate, along with the videos I mentioned.

5 Tips to Save Money on Gas and Improve Gas Mileage on Any Car

With the cost of gas going up, up, up, a lot of drivers are beginning to feel like their gas pedal is connected directly to their wallets. Many auto owners see cutting down on driving as the only way they can save. But look around at the total cost of driving a car vehicle and you'll see there are actually several areas where you can save on expenses. The following 5 tips won't help you find cheaper gas, but they will cut the cost of owning and operating a car. Using any or all of them will go a long way toward keeping your wallet from running on empty.

1. Reduce Fuel Consumption.....Begin by making sure your car is well tuned, the air filter is clean and your tires are inflated according to their manufacturer's recommendations. Such simply measures have been shown to reduce fuel consumption by a whopping 20%! When you're on the road, avoid quick starts and stops and drive slower. Your car burns less fuel at slow speed. Lastly, consolidate trips whenever possible. Plan shopping and errands to make the most of trip out of your driveway.

2. Shop Around For Auto Insurance....The internet is making it easier than ever to find the best price for auto insurance. If you've haven't shopped around for insurance in a while, now's the time to get on the web and start making comparisons. Many sites will show you charts of what they would charge you right along side estimates from their competitors. If you've been with the same agency for a long time, be sure to let your agent know you're price shopping and are open to discounts or other suggestions for ways to lower your auto insurance expenses.

3. Reconsider How You Finance Your Vehicle... Once upon a time, the only way to drive a car was to own it. Today, leasing is a popular option. But whether you lease or own, you're likely tied into monthly payments. Take a good look at what you're paying and how, and consider ways to save, either by refinancing your car loan or restructuring your lease agreement. When you refinance, your old loan is paid off in full and replaced with a new loan. Since your new load will be for a lesser amount and -hopefully-a lower interest rate, you can wind up saving a considerable amount of money on interest.

4. Consider An Extended Warranty.....Maintaining your vehicle is one of the biggest expenses of driving, and a well-maintained vehicle is actually cheaper to drive. Having an extended warranty is one way to make sure your vehicle is always in top condition. Consider that one major repair can easily cost more than a year of extended warranty and you begin to see the potential savings. You'll get the best price on an extended warranty if you purchase it before the original manufacturer's warranty expires. The typical manufacturer's warrant last for 3 years or 36,000 miles, so be sure to take action before you approach those limits.

5. Form A Carpool With Friends And Neighbors...it's likely you have family, friends and neighbors who visit many of the same shops you do every week. If two or three of you visit the same pharmacy every week, why not pair up and share the driving chores and expenses? You'll get to spend some extra time with people you like and you'll all save money.

Radial Tires

Radial Tires are also known as Steel-Belted Tires or Radial-Ply Tires; but let's start out with the history of Radial Tires, shall we?

Radial Tires were launched by Michelin in 1946, but were first designed in 1915 by Arthur W. Savage; who was a very fortunate tire producer & creator in San Diego, CA. A lot of people think that Radial Tires are only meant for Passenger Cars; but the truth is, they can be used for Passenger Cars and regular Non-Passenger Vehicles. Since it has become so successful since it first came out, Radial Tires are now the standard tires for mostly all models that you see on the street today.

The way a Radial Tire is manufactured is by having polyester cords that are ran vertically from bead to bead, rather than placing diagonal nylon plies that run across the centerline. If you were to "reanalyze" it, I guess you can say that it's "wrapped" in the same way the tread of the tire is facing. The cords make up the inside of the tire & the crown belts are placed on top & laid perpendicular to the actual radial plies. Some of these belts are made out of steel; hence, the name "Steel-Belted Tires" emerges.

Since the Radial Tire is manufactured this way, it leads it to be "Puncture-Resistant", gives the vehicle a smoother ride, & is also quieter than your average tire. It's odd because the radial plies placed in the tire allows it to be flexible, but the tread stays the same when you're driving on a flat surface. I guess you'd say that's the magic of technology, wouldn't you agree? This type of construction gives the radials better handling & traction when you're on the road; not to mention it gives your tires a longer life to live & be apart of your lovely vehicle. The radial construction of the tire permits the heat to dissolve quickly, which means these tires run cooler & are less likely to blow out on you while you're speeding on the freeway.

It really doesn't matter what size you want because Radial Tires just so happen to come in a huge range of sizes, they even come standard on most Earth-Moving Vehicles. Every time you catch a glimpse on one of these Radial Tires, you'll notice they have a letter "P". The reason for this is because a "P" metric sizing system is the system used on mostly all passenger car tires. The front of the tire usually has a series of letters & numbers that gives us information about the tire. For example, let's say your tire has P215/65R/15; the "215" is the width, the "65" is the profile, & the "15" is the diameter.

Radial Tires are not only for Passenger Cars, but also for farm vehicles, vehicles that go off-roading, & even your average airplane! When planes have Radial Tires, they benefit from better traction, control, handling, & even heat dissipation.

Car Customizers

I am often intrigued and worried abt the car customization scene in India. There are too many of these wannabe Gandinis and Pinifarinas on the streets and I fear that in the sheer zest of turning out mind-numbing creations, they are messing up with the structural integrity of the original cars.

Self-learned Anyways, the motor vehicle act forbids changes to the body of a car. And one can easily imagine what playing around with the shape of monocoques can lead to. And then there are the other 'designers' who take pride in chopping cars in two and adding doors, making stretch limos powered by 88bhp engines.

Is this the way that Indian automotive design should be heading. Will we become a nation of automotive monkeys with scissors? While I don't doubt the passion of the self-proclaimed automotive designers I do feel that sometimes fundamental knowledge is better suited than just passion.

Media also has a hand to play in making these glorified body tailors as some designer whiz kids. So you have them featured in newspaper supplements, enthusiast magazines and even lifestyle glossies. Maybe its time that we act responsibly.

Car Dealers - Hunting For a Car

If you have a driving license, it is likely that you have spent at least a small portion of your life looking for your perfect car. You may even have spent that same small portion every single year, if you are the type of person who likes to replace their car as soon as possible, or you may have only have to take up your time once or twice in the entire time you have been driving.

Where once the car hunt was just a matter of popping down to the nearest car dealer and buying whatever was on offer, this isn't so much the case now. Instead, we all know a whole lot more and how much things should cost and how they should perform which although good, does mean that it takes us a lot longer to find our idea car at our ideal price.

If you want an example of a fairly typical hunt for a new car, then here is my blow by blow account.

It started with a load of research- which is, nowadays, pretty unavoidable. After all, so many new cars are coming out all the time that especially if you are buying in the new car market the boundaries and expectation put on a car are constantly changing. In much the same vein if you are buying used you will still need to do research so that you can assess the figures and facts unless you know everything there is to know about ever model that has ever existed!

We did our research largely online, although obviously we asked around friends and family too. Most of our research time was spent checking out various models that we liked the look of on professional and customer review sites. This let us build up a picture of which cars both looked good and performed well, so that we had a range of models to focus our search on.

The next stage of the search was online too actually looking for a few different cars. Obviously whenever we were out and about we kept our eyes peeled for any great deals, but generally most of the cars were found were over the internet. We used car supermarkets and independent dealer sites or really take in as many options as possible a process that saved us time as we didn’t have to trail around all the dealerships.

Once we had a shortlist, we rang up to check they were in stock and arranged to go have a look. Some of them were discounted immediately based on a dodgy online description or other noticeable flaw, but the remainder were then taken out for a test drive. This, and the price, was the deciding factor, as we simply wouldn't buy anything that didn't feel nice to drive no matter how glowing the reviews were! Those reviews did come in handy when knowing what flaws and common problems to look for, however!

At the end of this process, thankfully, we had actually found a car and we still have it now.

Car Rentals: Get What You Need While Saving Money

Before you next car rental, there are a few things that you should know. First it is recommended to compare at least two or more car rental companies before making your final reservations. This is a great way to ensure you are getting the right price. Another great way to reduce the overall cost would be to use a coupon code.

Daily rate types: Costa Rica Car Rental rates vary between the many different companies. It all depends on the rental companies current daily rate offerings. The daily rates that are usually found include: being charged by the mile, having a limited amount of mileage per day or getting the unlimited mileage rate. Keep in mind that sometimes a cheaper upfront rate will cost more in the long run, if you plan on driving heavily. So choose wisely, as getting the appropriate rate type can be an important factor in your overall cost.

Car categories: Finding the right car can be confusing, just make note of the amount of people that will be riding in the car as well as the total amount of luggage. Once you have these figures you can easily find what you need. Car rentals are most often described in the following categories:

Economy: this is the most basic and least expensive model. Seating 4 people and holding 1 large and 1 small suitcase.

Compact: is slightly costlier than an economy car and will offer only a minor upgrade in car type. Still it will seat 4 people as well as hold 1 large and 1 small luggage. Intermediate: these cars are usually priced right in-between the lowest to most expensive and can seat 5 people as well as 1 large and 2 small luggage. Standard: is slightly costlier than an "Intermediate" and will offer only a minor upgrade in car type. Still it will seat 5 people as well as hold 1 large and 2 small luggage.

Full Size: they are the most expensive of the bunch. These cars can seat 5 people and hold 2 large and 2 small luggage. Again, always be sure to check for special promotions or coupon codes which are readily available online to save even more. Sometimes you can even ask the Car Rental Costa Rica in advance for special rates, they are often available. Additional airport charge? Because car rental companies have to pay airports additional fees, they usually transfer this cost over to the customer. So when getting a quote, ask about this and see whether it is already included or not.

Don't forget the tax: Remember when getting a quotation, Taxes are not normally included. As this can make your total cost go up a lot it is important to check if it was already included in your original quotation. What about insurance? This is not as complicated as you might think. Most car insurance companies (from your personal vehicle) will automatically insure the rental car (make sure to check with them first). However, if your personal car insurance company does not, or if you do not have personal car insurance then buying the insurance coverage is a good idea.

Overview: When making your reservation, follow these simple and easy tips and you can be one of the many to take advantage of the best rates offered by so many Costa Rica Rent a Car companies today.

So to do a quick rundown:

1. Do a price comparison and easily use the internet to obtain money saving coupon codes.

2. Check the daily rate types and pick the one that best suits your needs.

3. Pick the least expensive car category that your feel comfortable with.

4. Don't be shy, and ask when it comes to those other hidden charges and taxes.

5. Determine if you need to purchase insurance.

6. Make the reservation.

Wedding Limo Services

When you have already put down a deposit on the wedding venue and picked out the food, cake and flowers, there is still at least one more thing to think about -- your hire wedding car options. If you live in a small area nowhere near a metropolitan city, you may not have many options when it comes to which company or individual to hire. Therefore, you might need to choose a wedding car based on what"s available at that one place. However, if you are lucky enough to have a wide range of vehicles from which to choose, you may not know where to start.

Consider your Wedding Theme - It is not always easy to find the perfect for hire; wedding cars come in so many different sizes and styles. Think about the overall theme of your wedding when you are picking out your wedding transportation. Will your day be an intimate gathering of close friends and family? Is it going to be held primarily outside or indoors? What time of year is it and is there a time period or "era" that you should consider when choosing which vehicle to hire? Wedding car options are endless.

Think About your Transportation Needs - Some wedding situations dictate several smaller vehicles; some will require one large vehicle such as a limousine; while others still may require several large vehicles. Depending on your transportation needs, you can adjust your hire wedding car budget. Will you need several parties transported at the same time? Is the distance between the ceremony and reception great, or will the married couple need a ride to the airport after the party is over? These are all great questions to ask yourself before you hire. Wedding cars may be priced upon the distance they are driven, so take that into careful consideration.

Sometimes Money is an Issue - As just mentioned, your budget may be the deciding factor when making the decision of which vehicle you wish to hire. Wedding car options are priced according to distance being used, the rarity of the vehicle, standard of luxury the vehicle possesses, and much more. Renting a two-door sports car convertible that is relatively modern will fetch a different price than a Hummer limousine that fits a party of 15 or more individuals. While you want to strike a balance between staying within your budget and creating your dream wedding, be sure not to compromise when it comes to the trustworthiness of the vehicle owner or rental company.

Choosing The Perfect Limo Service

A limo service is the ultimate way to take a good celebration and turn it into a great one. Whether you're looking at hiring a limo service for a birthday, a graduation, or even a wedding, there's luxury and elegance waiting for you the moment that the limo arrives at the location you specify for pick-up. However, if you're looking into a limo service for the first time, there's a few things you need to know in order to get the best experience possible.

First, you want to look for a limo service company that gives you as many options as possible in terms of availability. Today's limo companies realize that people are looking to add an extra touch of luxury to their lives around the clock, and 24/7 service is more available than ever before.

One good example is the classic school prom. While the actual prom may only last till around midnight, it's the activities that happen after prom that can stretch into the wee hours of morning. Many students choose to rent a limo to not only take them to the prom and pick them up, but also take them to go late night skating or bowling -- a very fun activity that has its own set of memories.

Next, you will want to look for a limo service that offers multiple types of limos. Generally speaking, you're going to want a different type of limo to show up at a nightclub or party than if you want to arrive in style at a wedding.

One perfect example of this is the legendary party bus. Many limo services actually offer party bus rental as part of their list of services for one big reason: people absolutely love them. If you've never seen a party bus before, think of it as a true entertainment center on wheels. Music, big screen TVs, even air hockey tables can be found on party buses. It's a great type of limo service if you're looking to capture the fun and excitement of living like a rock star for a night with your closest friends. What makes party buses even more popular is that they can carry a lot more people than regular limousines. Indeed, a party bus can carry anywhere from 20 people all the way up to nearly a hundred in some cases.

Finally, you will want to look for a limo service that is as professional as possible. After all, you are taking the time to create a unique and one of a kind experience. The right limo service will have drivers that understand this and strive to be as professional as possible from start to finish. Look for a limo service that has all of its drivers licensed to actually perform chauffeur services.

All things considered, a limo service is one of the keys to creating a memorable experience for your next event. Prices for limo service are much less than most would expect, so why not rent a limo for your next event today?

Introduction to the Convertibles

Convertibles are still considered as luxury vehicles everywhere across the globe. Not many people in the world drive a convertible simply because these models are priced higher than the regular ones. But that does not confine convertible cars only to the super-rich and the famous, the demands are rising and we have definitely seen an increase in the number of convertibles roaming the streets.

In case you are not familiar with the concept of Convertible cars, you can consider them as normal cars with a foldable and often retractable roof-top. This option gives the vehicle a stylish and posh look while allowing the luxury of having either an open-air cabin or an enclosed vehicle at the touch of a button or turn of a lever. There are models from some of the major car manufacturers that come in convertible variants to offer a choice to the buyers. There are also car customization companies that can transform any car from good to great by adding a retractable roof but this is mainly aftermarket stuff and definitely not a great option if you care about your car warranty.

Convertibles can either have a hard top or a soft top depending on the nature of the retractable material. Hard tops are made from the same steel/aluminum alloys that form the car body but these are usually made lighter and contain joints and hinges along with levers and circuits. These tops usually retract into the boot of the car and they definitely last longer than soft tops that are made of fiber and canvas. Hard top Convertibles don't come cheap owing to the complex machinery involved. Comparatively, soft tops are cheaper and they also don't occupy as much space when retracted. These usually fold and rest on the boot of the car and usually don't involve any complex mechanisms.

There are however much greater disadvantages of having a convertible with a soft top. To start off with, soft tops hardly offer any kind of protection against break-ins. You can cut through a soft top even with a kitchen knife and run away with the car. No wonder the number of theft cases are much higher in case of soft top convertibles than any other vehicle. Owing to such a heightened security threat, insuring a soft top convertible will definitely cost you more. Even then there aren't many insurance companies ready to insure a soft top convertible. If the kitchen knife is a threat, then you would be surprised to know that on an average a soft top lasts 4 years. That means you can tear it even with your bare hands after that. This is due to the process of weathering. The cloth material, nylon and canvas deteriorates with rains, heat, snow and other vagaries of nature and believe me, drive a car with a deteriorated roof only if you hate your ears. That is because it will flag and ruffle with wind making you feel like you are on high sea battling gigantic waves in your little sailboat. To no surprise, such a car wont be fit for rainy days either with chances of water creeping in through fissures. Soft tops when deteriorated don't close properly and leave out gaps near the ends.

The greater risk however comes in the form of safety while driving. Convertibles have a poor safety record already and even with hard tops, a roll-over can be potentially deadly. You can never have a convertible with a wide rear window. That means poor rear-visibility and almost an impairment while driving with the top drawn up. It is a fact often proven that convertibles don't necessarily have the best drive quality either. This is because of vibration and shaking as a result of an unsupported frame.

A retractable roof, whether mechanical or electronic is a complex piece of engineering and even minor repairs can sometimes become really costly. This is a prime reason to stay away from a convertible if you don't like spending much on repairs and maintenance.

A convertible whether hard top or soft top is definitely stylish and there is no doubt about that but there are numerous facts you should consider before buying one. In case you already own a few other types of vehicles, I would definitely suggest that you add a convertible to your collection but if such a car is supposed to be your prime vehicle, you might need to reconsider your decision and go for a better option. These vehicles are mainly for special occasions and need a whole lot of care when compared to a normal car. Unless you are ready to provide such care to your vehicle, stick to the normal cars.

How to Manage a Brake Failure

You might have come across movie scenes where a car with failed brakes dodges city traffic at high speeds or perhaps maneuvers narrow bends on a hillside with screeching tires. These scenes are a dramatic portrayal of something that does happen in real life and is surely very dangerous as well but definitely not so common.

Facts and figures suggest that out of all the road accidents that take place in USA, only a mere 3 percent are attributed to brake failures. This should give you an idea that clearly brake failure is not a common occurrence and it does not result in tragedies every time.

Again, it is not necessary that your vehicle will gather extremely high speed once the brakes fail but such a vehicle can certainly leave death and destruction in its path if the driver does not know how to handle the situation. If you drive a vehicle, it is advisable that you should be aware of all the rules and practices that apply in order to operate, maintain and troubleshoot your vehicle. This way you can avoid being involved in most dangerous situations associated with driving a vehicle.

Brake failures can commonly be attributed to worn-out brake parts, lack of maintenance, damage to brake system or perhaps even a manufacturing defect. Apart from that, unless someone deliberately fiddles with your car's brake system, brake failure is an unlikely scenario. Earlier there might have been a case of old vehicles experiencing jammed brakes due to various reasons like cold, dirt or other factors but with latest advancements in automobile technologies, even those conditions have been thrown out of the picture now.

A desperate situation like brake failure can be avoided in the first place by maintaining your vehicle properly. In case you still find yourself in such a situation, there is no need to panic as that can make the situation worse. Although it is a life threatening situation, you can manage it successfully by following some basic rules mentioned below.

So what can you do if the brakes in your vehicle are not responding?

First things first, don't panic. Such a situation can be confusing but if you keep your cool, you can surely handle it without causing any harm either to yourself, or to others.

If you notice a brake failure, have a quick check of the traffic around you and select a route with least number of immediate obstacles and steer towards it. Try to take the straight road and avoid turns.

Slip the vehicle in its lowest gear and pump the brakes repeatedly.

Apply handbrakes or parking brakes. This may cause the vehicle to swerve but you should steer the vehicle to avoid that.

The last option is to apply the reverse gear. This should decrease the speed drastically even though it may destroy the transmission of your vehicle.

I hope you never get in a situation where you need to employ such measures but in case you unfortunately do, I am sure now you can manage it successfully.

Chrome Alloy Wheels

The type of wheels that you put on your car can have a big influence on the overall appearance of the car. If you like shiny and sleek looking tires, you should opt for chrome wheels. Chrome alloy wheels have a base of aluminum or steel and an upper coat of chromium. The chromium plating not only gives the wheel a glossy sheen but also makes it stronger. The mirrored glaze that chromium-electroplating gives to automobile wheels, makes chrome alloy wheels a hit with car enthusiasts.

You can find chrome wheels in many different sizes and shapes. You can even get custom chrome wheels designed for yourself, to suit your style. You can specify the pattern and design of spokes of the wheels. Chrome wheels can be classified into 3 different types: polished, matte and black, based on their looks. The only difference is the level of shine.

Lets have a look at the benefits of chrome plating:

1.   Chrome wheels are very strong against resisting external factors such as humidity and temperature. Thus, they don’t corrode and rust easily.

2.  Since chromium is more durable and harder than aluminum or steel, it makes the wheels more durable by giving them a longer life.

Even though chrome wheels are durable, you must take care of them to maintain them in a good condition. Remove the dirt using a soft cloth and then use a proper chrome polish for extra shine. Using the correct material for the care of your chrome wheels is important to avoid their flaking and peeling. You must avoid getting your car machine washed as the brushes in the machine are very rough and can decrease the sheen of your chrome wheels.

People, sometimes, mistake chrome wheels for rims. The difference is that the entire wheel, and not just the rim, is made of an alloy of chromium and steel or aluminum.

You can find several chrome alloy wheel vendors online, who offer cheap chrome wheels. So go ahead and give your car a swanky new look with chrome alloy wheels.

Chrome Rims

Are you are an ardent automobile lover and want to make your car or bike stand out in the crowd amongst other cars and bikes? If yes, then simply adding chrome rims to your chrome wheel will serve your purpose. Chrome rims add a dash of style to the chrome wheels and beautify the overall appearance of the vehicle.

Rims are generally of two types, namely aluminum rims and chrome rims. Aluminum rims generally have silver, dull finish whereas chrome rims have a shiny finish. Besides, aluminum rims are not as expensive as chrome rims.

Chrome rims generally have no real or practical purpose to serve; however, they can enhance the look of your vehicle and even make your cheap chrome wheels look very sleek, stylish and attractive.

You can also make your own personalized chrome rims made to complement your custom chrome wheels.

To ensure that your chrome rims keep looking attractive, you need to maintain their shine by cleaning them regularly. Dirty and dust-infected rims can appear very tacky and unattractive. The ideal way of cleaning the chrome rims is by cleaning them every week with soap and water.

Following are the steps you can follow, when cleaning your chrome rims:

You should start by cleaning the tires first. If your rims are extremely dirty, it’ll be better for you to use a product designed specifically for the type of rims you have. You can also use a pH-balanced product and follow the given directions.

For scrubbing, prefer using nylon or plastic-bristled brush. Do not use sponges or brushes containing hard materials. After scrubbing, add a protectant such as a chrome polish. Avoid using regular vehicle wax on the rims. Lastly, rub off the haze on the rims by using a soft cloth and rubbing with it in a circular motion.

Electric Car Shock

The high cost of the new electric cars makes DIY conversion very attractive

The first electric cars to arrive in Australia from Japan have caused a shock. They cost $70,000 each.

The tiny mites are made by Mitsubishi and are here for tests by Australian government departments before being made available to the public. A few thousand have already been sold in Japan .

The big price for the little car makes DIY electric car kits an even bigger attraction. Instead of buying the expensive new hybrids you can simply convert your existing vehicle with an electric car kit.

Professional conversions cost $3000 or more but DIY totals about $300. - a saving of  $69,700 over the Mitsubishi tot.

With no fuel bills  you soon get your money back. It costs about $1 to charge your car from your electric plug at home. You can travel up to 100 miles (160.9 km) on a simple charge. And don’t think electric cars are slow. You will get up to 55mph (88.5 kph)

The DIY conversions are quick to do and require no special mechanical knowledge. All you need is a conversion manual. Conversions can be done on any type of vehicle in any country.

There are various manuals on the market but the one I recommend costs under $50, which I think, is the cheapest manual currently available. It also comes with numerous bonuses and a money-back guarantee.

Another big advantage of converting your own vehicle to electric is you will probably get a lot more space. The new Mitsubishi mite doesn't have much room.

Your Guide To Used Auto Parts

According to research by a leading science daily, advanced automobile technologies will change the way our cars age. The studies suggest that use of certain alloys will allow auto parts to regenerate, refresh and rejuvenate themselves to get rid of all wear and tear. There will never be a need to replace even a single bolt in your car unless there is a major case of breakage.

All this sounds good in the head, doesn’t it? But the truth is that such scientific reports come and go everyday. The fact remains that with every passing minute, with every rev of the engine and with every spin of the wheel; our cars age and usually require a few parts to be replaced during their lifetime.

So what to do when your car cries out for a part replacement? Your mechanic may dole out advice after advice to fill his own pockets but you need to remember that you have only two options. Either you can go back to your car manufacturer and place a request for a brand new part or alternatively, you can purchase a used car-part from numerous car warehouses or scrap-yards in your state. Whichever option you choose, you need to consider some aspects of your decision before taking that step.

Honestly, car-part replacement is the least favorite result for any car owner. Anyone who loves his car would prefer spending money on accessorizing, customizing and enhancing his car rather than paying huge bills for car repairs and part replacements.

Brand new OEM parts from your vehicle manufacturer will definitely be a perfect fit for your car model and deliver peak performance. These parts will also come with a warranty, quality assurance and in some cases, technical support as well. But as they say, the best things come at a high price. If you are willing to pay, you can go the “brand new part” way.  But figures suggest that only two among ten people purchase a new auto part. So what are the other eight people doing?

According to most surveys conducted to study consumer behavior and buying patterns in the car parts industry, it has been confirmed that most people prefer buying used auto parts instead of brand new ones.

So are used auto parts from a salvage-yard the best option if you want to cut the costs on auto part replacements or is there a catch involved? Does it mean compromising on quality for the sake of money? Also, do salvage-yards sell spurious auto parts?

Let us clear a few myths surrounding the used auto-part industry. The business of buying and selling used auto parts is not a new fad. It has been around ever since the first automobiles were engineered. The importance of this industry was never in doubt and in the recent times, a remarkable overall development has been experienced in this sphere.

Ever since this business went online, buying and selling of used auto parts has become extremely convenient. Warehouses maintain an online inventory list, deliver auto parts right to customer’s doorstep and offer technical support with a view to increase customer satisfaction. Used auto-part sellers keep information about used parts at your fingertips so that you can make purchases at the snap of your fingers. Finding parts from a salvage-yard has never been easier. Companies dealing with used car-parts are reaching out to customers and creating awareness about how buying “used OEM auto parts” is more advantageous and much safer than buying aftermarket parts and locally made spurious parts.

Scrap-yards nowadays specialize in selling quality tested used auto parts that are made by original manufacturers. A used auto part does not mean that it has been used for ages and is now put out for sale. Most used auto parts in scrap-yards are barely two or three years old and are usually in very good condition.

If you are looking forward to buy a used car part online, it is always advisable to purchase it from a recognized and dedicated auto part seller rather than fancy auction sites and shopping portals as these don’t guarantee quality. Such websites also provide incorrect information about specifications of auto parts on sale. These websites are not managed by auto experts or qualified mechanics but by mere sales agents or individuals with no knowledge about the part they are selling.

When you are purchasing used auto parts online, make sure they are quality tested and there is adequate information available on the website regarding the condition of the concerned auto parts. Some auto parts like “ABS parts” are a combination of various parts that form a complete assembly. Before buying such assembly of parts, make sure that the website specifies all parts that are contained in the package and price for each individual component or a collective price.

To ensure a perfect fit for the used auto part you are planning to buy online, make sure you select the correct make, model and year that apply to your vehicle. This can save you from a lot of problems that can be caused by an incorrect purchase.

Before purchasing a used auto part online, make sure you confirm the details with the seller over the phone. Most used auto part websites will have a phone number mentioned on the homepage and it is important that you not only get complete information about the part but ask for a price quote as well.

With a bit of research you will surely be able to find some great deals on used auto-parts online. There are a number of used auto-part dealers that provide free shipping and other services like technical support and money-back guarantee. You can choose the deal that suits you the most.

Alright, I guess now you are equipped with a bit of information that will definitely help you in buying the replacement part that your car needs. For some of the best deals on used auto parts, make sure you visit the website listed below.

How to Get Cheap and Discounted Tires

Are your tires starting to wear off and do you want to find new tires that will last longer without spending a fortune on it? Tires are not cheap and this is also the case for used tires. However, I will show you some ways to save money simply if you take the time to look in the right direction or at least if you know where to go for shopping. Some tips I will reveal you in this short article are essential to understand and to know before your next buy. In short, find out how to buy affordable set of tires for your vehicles.

You know you’ve got many options and parameters to look for your tires. The very first one is the size. Each car has its own size of tire. This important information is written outside the tire. But the problem if you know nothing about cars and tires is that you’ve got many numbers and letters outside your tires. And one of them is the size. If you have a doubt, check with a professional. Mainly, when you buy tires the size and the brand will make the price. To help you find the size, this is something like 220/40R16. You have to set of numbers. Believe me this step must be done, and there you go for shopping.

I recommend you to go to your local automotive shop. In fact, any repair autos are selling tires but not all of them will have the right set of tires for your vehicles. But most of the time you will find the size you need but not the brand. If you do not care about the brands it’s ok, but if you’ve got a favorite brand then you will need to go to larger shop. Anyway, the best option to take to save money is to phone every local shop and ask for the price. You know they usually do limited promotions on specific sizes or specific brands.

For even lowest price, you guess it, go to the internet. You’ve got many stores and most of them have a website. You can compare the prices and look for a free delivery. Sometimes, online give you larger discount and sometimes not. That’s why, it’s good to go out. But in any cases, take a cash back if you shop online because you may have received the wrong set of tires or you have selected the wrong size and it simply didn’t work. So protect yourself from mistakes.

That’s it. Check the size, go to different local shops or use your phone and do not forget to search on the internet for a better discount. Remember to select free shipping and cash back.
